How to cancel a Fubo free trial before you're charged
Sign in at fubo.tv in a browser, open My Account, select Subscription, scroll to the bottom and select Cancel, then confirm with Cancel Subscription on the next screen. Canceling a Fubo trial ends it immediately, so do it when you're finished watching but before the date and time Fubo showed at checkout. Fubo doesn't refund prepaid or partial months, and it has no pause option.
How the Fubo free trial works
Fubo (many people still search for it as fuboTV) says some of its plans include a free trial, that the length can vary, and that it's for new customers only. You enter a card to start. At checkout Fubo shows a line reading “You will not be charged until your free trial ends on (date) at (time).” When that moment passes, your card is charged for the first billing cycle.
Write down that date and time. It's the only deadline that matters, and it isn't necessarily midnight.
The catch: canceling ends the trial immediately
With many services you can cancel a trial on day one and keep watching until it runs out. Fubo is different. Its help center says canceling during your trial results in an immediate expiration of the trial, and any remaining trial days aren't accessible.
So the usual advice flips: don't cancel early, cancel on time. Use the trial, then cancel shortly before the date and time from checkout, leaving yourself a margin of a few hours.
One exception in Fubo's cancellation policy: if you signed up through Roku, the subscription terminates at the end of the free trial rather than immediately.
Cancel Fubo on the web
Fubo's cancel instructions are for its website, and its mobile-device article points to the account page on the web for canceling. On an iPhone, use Safari.
- Sign in at fubo.tv. Open Safari on your iPhone or a browser on a computer and sign in at fubo.tv.
- Select a profile. Select a profile from the Who's Watching? screen.
- Open My Account. Click the settings icon, then select My Account from the drop-down menu.
- Select Subscription. From the My Account screen, select Subscription.
- Select Cancel. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select Cancel.
- Confirm with Cancel Subscription. If a discount offer appears, skip it and select Cancel Subscription. Wait for the confirmation page that says you have successfully canceled.
The step people miss is the retention screen. Fubo may offer a discount with a Redeem Offer button, and it says plainly that if you see that screen, your subscription isn't canceled yet. Keep going until you reach the confirmation page.
If Roku bills you
Fubo's help center names Roku as a third-party biller. Sign in at fubo.tv and open Subscription: if Roku bills you, it says Roku Subscription instead of showing your next billing date. In that case cancel with Roku:
- On the web: at my.roku.com, click Unsubscribe next to your Fubo plan, then Yes, Unsubscribe.
- On the Roku device: highlight Fubo, press the Star button, choose Manage subscription, then Cancel subscription.
Fubo's help center doesn't describe Apple billing. Still, it takes ten seconds to check Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions on your iPhone: anything listed there is billed by Apple and has to be canceled there.
What happens after you cancel
- During a trial: access ends right away (except for Roku sign-ups).
- On a paid plan: you keep service until the end of your current billing period.
- Recordings: Fubo says recordings are deleted once the subscription has expired.
- Coming back: you don't get another free trial when reactivating a terminated subscription, and you're billed immediately.
- Still charged? Fubo lists the usual causes: the cancellation wasn't completed, billing timing, a second account, or third-party billing.
Refunds, pausing and fees
- Refunds: Fubo says it does not provide refunds for prepaid or partial months of service. That's why the trial deadline matters.
- Pause: Fubo does not offer a way to pause or suspend a subscription. The alternative is to cancel and reactivate later.
- Cancellation fees: most plans have none, but Fubo says a promotional plan with a commitment period can carry an early cancellation fee.
- Hulu + Live TV: Fubo says the two services are still separate after their business combination and you keep managing your Fubo account as usual.
Set a reminder for the exact trial deadline
A trial that ends the moment you cancel, with no refund if you miss the cutoff, is exactly where a reminder earns its keep. In Subs, add Fubo as a free trial, enter the end date from your checkout screen and pick a reminder for the day before. Subs shows what the plan will cost once the trial converts. Fubo isn't in the built-in service list, so type the name in; everything else works the same.
Frequently asked questions
If I cancel my Fubo free trial, can I keep watching until it ends?
No. Fubo says canceling during the trial ends it immediately and the remaining trial days aren't accessible. The exception is a trial started through Roku, which runs to its end.
When does Fubo charge me after the free trial?
At the date and time shown at checkout: “You will not be charged until your free trial ends on (date) at (time).” Your card is then charged for the first billing cycle.
Will Fubo refund me if I forgot to cancel the trial?
Fubo's policy is that it does not provide refunds for prepaid or partial months of service.
Can I pause Fubo instead of canceling?
No. Fubo says it does not offer the ability to pause or suspend subscriptions. You can cancel and reactivate later.
I canceled Fubo but I'm still being charged. Why?
Usually the cancellation wasn't finished (the discount offer screen isn't the end), or the account is billed by a third party such as Roku, or there's a second account.
Can I get another Fubo free trial later?
No. Fubo says the free trial is only for new customers, and reactivating a terminated subscription doesn't include one.
