How to cancel Hulu
If Hulu bills you, open your Hulu Account page in a browser, select Cancel under Your Subscription, then Continue to Cancel and Cancel Subscription. You keep access until the end of the billing cycle. If someone else bills you, such as Apple, Disney+, Amazon, Roku, Spotify or a carrier, you cancel with them: the Payment Information section of your Hulu Account page shows your billing party.
Check your billing party first
Hulu has more billing routes than most services, and the cancel button only appears in the right one. Hulu says you can confirm your billing party on your Hulu Account page, in the Payment Information section.
- Hulu bills you directly: cancel on the Account page (steps below).
- Apple: existing Apple-billed subscribers are still billed by Apple and cancel through Apple. New and returning subscribers can no longer sign up and pay through Apple.
- Disney+: a bundle you bought through Disney+ is managed through Disney+. See how to cancel Disney+.
- Other partners Hulu lists: Amazon, Comcast Xfinity, Google, Kroger, HBO Max, Optimum, Roku, Spotify, T-Mobile and Verizon. Steps vary, and Hulu's help center has a page for each.
Cancel a Hulu-billed subscription
Hulu's instructions are for a computer or a mobile browser, so on an iPhone use Safari rather than the Hulu app.
- Open your Account page. In Safari or on a computer, sign in at hulu.com and go to your Account page.
- Select Cancel. Select Cancel under Your Subscription.
- Continue to Cancel. If Hulu offers to pause your subscription instead, select Continue to Cancel.
- Cancel Subscription. Select Cancel Subscription. Your Account page should now say “Your subscription will be canceled,” and Hulu emails a confirmation.
When it has worked, the subscription status on your Account page reads “Your subscription will be canceled,” and Hulu emails a confirmation. Keep that email.
If you only want to drop an add-on or move to a different plan, Hulu lets you change your subscription without canceling.
Cancel Hulu billed through Apple
Hulu sends Apple-billed subscribers to Apple. On your iPhone:
- Open Settings and tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap Hulu.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.
Hulu says you keep access until the end of your current billing cycle and your Apple account isn't charged for Hulu after that.
Canceling when you have a bundle
Bundles are where people get caught, because there can be two subscriptions: the one you started with and the bundle you upgraded to.
- Cancel the original subscription and the Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ Bundle continues uninterrupted. You keep being billed for the bundle.
- Cancel the bundle and your original Hulu, ESPN+ or third-party billed subscription continues at its then-current price, unless you cancel that separately too.
- Bought through Disney+ or HBO Max? Hulu says to manage a bundle bought through Disney+ directly with Disney+, and the Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max Bundle bought through HBO Max with HBO Max.
After canceling, check your Account page again to make sure nothing is still listed as active.
What happens after you cancel
- Access continues to the end of the billing cycle, and you aren't charged again. Hulu's cancel article describes access, not refunds.
- Free trials: cancel during a trial and you keep access until it ends without being charged. The exception is Hulu + Live TV: its free trials end immediately when you cancel.
- Your account stays. Canceling doesn't delete your Hulu account or the Disney account you use for other Disney services.
- Coming back: sign up again with the same login.
- Hulu inside Disney+: Disney says Hulu subscriptions will continue to be available while Hulu is integrated further into Disney+, so the cancel route still depends on who bills you.
Pause Hulu for up to 12 weeks
If you'll be back, a pause avoids losing your plan. On your Account page, find Your Subscription, click Pause next to Pause Your Subscription, set the duration (up to 12 weeks) and click Submit.
- The pause starts on the first day of your next billing cycle.
- Hulu resumes automatically afterwards and charges your payment method.
- You can cancel while paused and you won't be charged.
- Not available for annual subscribers, most third-party billed accounts (Amazon and Roku are the exceptions), accounts on hold, gift card subscribers or promotional plans.
Track Hulu and its bundle in one place
With Hulu the risk isn't forgetting one subscription, it's paying for two: a bundle and the plan you had before it. In Subs, add each charge you actually see on your statement, and you'll get a reminder before each one renews and a link to Hulu's Account page when you're ready to cancel. Importing a screenshot of your card statement is a quick way to check whether Hulu, Disney+ and a bundle are all still billing you.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I cancel Hulu on my Account page?
You're probably billed by someone else. Check the Payment Information section of your Hulu Account page for your billing party, then cancel with Apple, Disney+, Amazon, Roku, Spotify or whichever partner it names.
Can I cancel Hulu from the iPhone app?
Hulu's instructions use the Account page on a computer or mobile browser. If Apple bills you, cancel in iPhone Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions.
If I cancel Hulu, is my Disney bundle canceled too?
Not necessarily. Canceling your original subscription leaves the bundle running, and canceling the bundle leaves the original subscription running. Cancel each one you no longer want.
Can I pause Hulu instead of canceling?
Yes, for up to 12 weeks if Hulu bills you monthly. The pause starts with your next billing cycle and Hulu resumes automatically at the end.
Do I lose access right away when I cancel Hulu?
No. You keep access until the end of your billing cycle. The exception is a Hulu + Live TV free trial, which ends immediately when you cancel.
Can I still subscribe to Hulu through Apple?
No. Hulu says new and returning subscribers can no longer sign up and pay through Apple. Existing Apple-billed subscribers continue to be billed by Apple.
